We believe learning should be alive. Untethered Press creates family-centered, hands-on curriculum inspired by the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Our resources use living books and real experiences to help children grow in curiosity, understanding, and appreciation for the world around them.

The Heart Behind Untethered Press

There was a time when our homeschool days felt fullโ€ฆ but not always meaningful.

We loved being home with our children. We loved the freedom, the flexibility, the opportunity to shape their education around truth and beauty. And yet, we often found ourselves searching for something deeper โ€” something richer than checklists, dry textbooks, and disconnected lessons.

We longed for learning that felt alive.

We wanted our children to remember what they studied.
To see connections.
To ask questions.
To step outside and touch what they were learning about.

But much of what we found felt tethered โ€” confined to pages, worksheets, and scripted outcomes.

So we began building something different.

A Living Education

We were drawn to living books โ€” stories written by authors who loved their subject and wrote with warmth and depth. Books that stirred imagination instead of simply delivering information.

We discovered that children remember what moves them.

Conceptual learning began to replace memorization. Conversations replaced busywork. Narration replaced endless review pages.

โ€œWhat if education is not about finishing a textbook, but about forming a person?”

What if understanding grows best through experiences, relationships, and wonder?

Learning That Moves

We began designing lessons that moved.

Learning that spilled into the backyard.
Into the kitchen.
Into the woods and the library and the rhythm of family life.

Hands-on explorations helped ideas stick. Nature walks turned into science lessons. Read-alouds sparked hours of meaningful discussion. Art and music became part of our weeks instead of โ€œextras.โ€

We saw curiosity ignite.

And once curiosity is lit, it carries learning farther than any worksheet ever could.

What โ€œUntetheredโ€ Means to Us

Untethered learning is not careless or chaotic.

It is rooted. Thoughtful. Intentional.

But it is not confined.

It allows children to wonder.
To observe closely.
To wrestle with big ideas.
To form real connections with the world around them.

It creates appreciation โ€” for creation, for history, for science, for beauty, for the quiet details that make this world extraordinary.

When learning becomes memorable, it becomes meaningful.

Built in Our Own Homes First

Before Untethered Press ever became a business, it was simply two homeschooling mothers planning lessons for our own children.

We were experimenting at our kitchen tables. Testing ideas. Refining rhythms. Seeing what truly worked โ€” and what didnโ€™t.

We created units we wished existed. We built what we couldnโ€™t find.

And when we saw how beautifully it shaped our own homeschool days, we felt compelled to share it with other families longing for the same thing.

Untethered Press was born not from a business plan, but from lived experience.

From mornings spent reading on the couch.
From afternoons digging in soil.
From conversations that lingered long after lessons ended.

An Invitation

If you are longing for a homeschool that feels rich and memorableโ€ฆ
If you want your children to understand rather than simply completeโ€ฆ
If you believe education should stir affection for the world, not just prepare for a testโ€ฆ

You are in the right place.

We are so glad you are here.
